Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten Applicants

Once we have received your completed application materials and application fee, we will contact you for an assessment appointment.

  • Scheduled in late January, these assessments will be in the Junior Kindergarten classroom.  The applicants will participate in group play and other activities that will allow the children to be observed and evaluated in a playful and informal setting.

  • Year-round assessments will be on an individual basis with our Resource Specialist.
Our Assessment team consists of our Kindergarten Teachers, the Junior Kindergarten Teacher, the Assistant Principal and our Resource Specialists.
 

Deadlines

The application deadline for Junior-K and Kindergarten applicants for the 2013-2014 school year is January 15, 2013.

If you are applying after the January deadline, please contact Carolyn Biasotti, cbiasotti@sainthilaryschool.org​, to inquire about availability.

While students are having the assessment, parents will have an opportunity to meet with our Principal, Charley Hayes.

Grades 1-8

Once all completed forms and fees are received, we will contact you to set up a shadow day and an assessment test with our Resource Specialist. First graders are not required to attend a shadow day.​

 

Shadow Day

A shadow day consists of joining the student’s current grade level at 8:00am for our daily assembly, spending the morning in the classroom, meeting new friends and, after lunch, taking the one-hour assessment test with our Resource Specialist.  The day finishes at approximately 2:00pm.

 

Notification

Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten applicants for the Fall of 2013:

  • Notifications will be mailed on March 14, 2013.

Transfer students for 1st – 8th Grade - Notification will be sent after an assessment test has been conducted and we have received the following:
          • ​​​​A completed application
      • A completed teacher recommendation form
      • The most recent report card
      • A copy of the student’s most recent Standardized Test scores
